CPR COURSES

Adult CPR *

This course is designed to teach CPR and the usage of the AED for adults. Students will also learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support and what to do in the case of an airway obstruction or choking. This course is geared for the general public and has been found acceptable for meeting requirements of a variety of professional state and federal agencies and associations. Adult CPR is applied to people ages 9 and older.

Course Highlights: Signs of heart attack and stroke; Adult Foreign Body Airway Obstruction; Adult CPR; and use of barrier devices to prevent transmission of disease during mouth to mouth.
Course Length: 2 - 2 ½ hours

* All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Infant and Child CPR *

Designed for those who care for children, this course teaches participants how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children age 8 and younger. CPR - Infant is available separately as an 11/2-2 hour course that applies to infants up to 12 months; CPR - Child is available separately and applies to children between the ages of 1 and 8. The usage of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for children will also be taught.

Course Length: 2 - 2 ½ hours

* All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


CPR for Community & Workplace (Adults, Infants & Children) *

This course is designed to teach CPR and relief of foreign body airway obstruction for adults, infants and children. Students will also learn how to recognize/care for a heart attack patient and how to prevent childhood injuries. The usage of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) will also be taught.

Course Highlights: Signs of heart attack, stroke, and choking; Infant, Child, and Adult Foreign Body Airway Obstruction; Infant, Child, and Adult CPR; and prevention of common fatal injuries in children and infants; and use of barrier devices to prevent transmission of disease during mouth to mouth.
Course Length: 5 hours

* All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


CPR PRO for the Professional Rescuer *

This course is designed for those health care workers who may be required to provide CPR in the course of their employment responsibilities. This course covers advanced topics involved in CPR and Emergency Cardiac Care that may face a Health Professional.

Course Highlights: Signs of heart attack, stroke, and choking; Infant, Child, and Adult Foreign Body Airway Obstruction; Infant, Child, and Adult CPR; and prevention of common fatal injuries in children and infants; use of barrier devices to prevent transmission of disease during mouth to mouth; use of the Automated External Defibrillator on adults; use of bag mask devices with Oxygen; and 2 rescuer CPR.
Course Length: 7 hours
(A Pocket Mask is required for this course and can be purchased separately.)

FIRST AID CLASSES

First Aid

Designed to teach students how to recognize an emergency, how to care for bleeding wounds, muscle/bone injuries, burns, environmental emergencies, and sudden illness (seizures, poisoning, etc.)

Course Length: 2 ½ - 3 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 3-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Pediatric First Aid

Designed to teach preventing childhood injuries, recognizing and caring for injuries such as wounds, and muscle, bone, and joint injuries, as well as sudden illness (poisoning, seizures, etc.)

Course Length: 4 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Wilderness First Aid

Basic Wilderness First Aid is an intensive 16-20 hour course for those who do wilderness recreation. It may also meet the needs of volunteers and professionals who lead groups on short trips in relatively low-risk situations, where they are not far from help.

All participants will receive a 3-year certification from the American Safety & Health Institute, who complete and pass the course requirements.



ADDITIONAL TRAINING

AED Training

This course will teach students the application and usage of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), and CPR integration. Students will also learn the key operating characteristics of AEDs, maintenance techniques and special operating considerations. Also included is information on meeting state laws and the need for medical direction.

Course Length: 2-4 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Bloodborne Pathogen Training

Designed to train employee regarding safe workplace practices, to report follow up on employee exposure to infectious materials, and to reduce the number of employees who contact bloodborne infections. An OSHA approved course.

Course Length: 1 ½ - 2 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Oxygen Administration

Serious and life-threatening medical emergencies often cause oxygen to be depleted in the body, leaving the victim at risk for cardiac arrest or brain damage. Supplemental oxygen is a critical step in treating a severe or life-threatening illness or injury. This program focuses on administering emergency oxygen, rescue breathing and oxygen devices.

Course Length: 2-3 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


CABS (Child and Babysitting Safety)

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program is a community education program that covers child safety and basic care techniques for infants and children. CABS was developed with a number of other national organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Course Length: 5-6 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Disaster Preparedness

Would you, your love ones, or co-workers know what to do when a disaster strikes? This course covers natural and man-made disasters and is designed to help reduce fear and uncertainty through personal preparation and planning. This course is helpful for home and/or organizations.

Course Length: 1 - 2 hours

*All persons successfully completing the course will receive a course completion card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


Emergency Responder

This "Advanced First Aid" course provides training with the recognition and immediate care for injury or sudden illness, including medical emergencies prior to the availability of medical care of other healthcare/EMS professionals. Skills such as Patient Assessment, CPR (Adult/Child/Infant), AED, and Bleeding Control/Shock Management and Medical Emergencies are covered.

Course Length: 14hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 3-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.


First Responder

The course provides students with the core knowledge and skills to function in the capacity of a first responder (Firefighters, law enforcement, security personnel, public works employees, park rangers, custom agents, lifeguards, corporate medical response teams and other interested persons). This course goes more in-depth than the topics/skills (Patient Assessment, CPR, Bleeding Control/Shock Management & Medical Emergencies) learned in Emergency Responder. Students will also learn skills necessary to provide care with a limited amount of equipment. This course does not require clinical time by students prior to successful completion.

Course Length: 40 hours

All persons successfully completing the course will receive a 3-year certification card from the American Safety & Health Institute.
